In order to enhance Omaha’s reputation as a national leader in the promotion and support of independent music, YFC, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization was formed by longtime community volunteers with an interest in music and culture to facilitate festivals in order to benefit area charities. The idea has been around for some time. It finally found the right group.

Besides being a really fun word to say, Maha (pronounced mä-’hä) means many things in languages from around the world, including “wandering nation” in Anglacized Native Indian, “great” in Sanskrit, “beautiful” in Spanish, “beautiful but shy” in Arabic and “moon” in Urdu.

Lewis & Clark Landing sits directly in front of Rick’s Cafe, at 515 North Riverfront Drive, in downtown Omaha on the west bank of the Missouri River. Entry to Riverfront Drive is accessed on the south by Dodge and Eighth Streets and on the north by Abbott Drive at Kenefick Park.

Nearby you will find North Downtown, featuring one of America’s top rock clubs, The Slowdown, and arthouse theater, Filmstreams. Directly to the west is Gene Leahy Mall and Heartland of America Park. To the east and a bit to the north is the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge and to the south and west is the historic Old Market.
